Dial Plan UM IP Gateways

Are you able to have separate dial plans with the same UM IP gateway associated? We are moving users to a 5 digit extension and need to create a new dial plan. I would like to have both dial plans use the same UM IP gate way while were moving the users. Also, what is the power shell cmd to change a existing dial plan to 5 digit extension? I attempted using the 2 cmds below which did not work.

Set-UMDialplan -Identity Ohio - NumberOfDigitsInExtension '5'

Set-UMDialplan -name Ohio - NumberOfDigitsInExtension '5'

Receive and Send fax

Hi

We need to be able to receive fax messages on one single um-enabled Mailbox using Exchange 2013.

Is there a way to configure that without having a fax server solution? If we NEED a fax server, what kind of fax server do we need ?

Regards.

UM Stops working if database is moved to other DAG member

I have Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 installed.  Exchange is 3 node DAG, Lync is 2 server pool.  Exchange servers are Exchangesvr01, Exchangesvr02, and ExchangesvrDR in another DataCenter.  Svr02 was the first one built.  Svr01 was added several weeks later.  If a UM enabled user's mailbox database is mounted on svr02, they can call the SA number, enter their extension, and get to UM OVA.  However, if I move the database to either svr01 or svrDR, when they call the SA number they will get a message saying "Sorry, this mailbox is on a server that does not support Unified Messaging".  Moving the mailbox back to svr02 solves the issue immediately.  Both servers are on the dialplan, UM service is running, they share the same UM certificate with both servers listed as SAN names.

Anyone have any ideas?  I have re-run ExchUCUtil.ps1 and OcsUMUtil.exe.

Migrate UM from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013

I have been running Exchange UM since Exchange 2007, using the ps1 script to move all my Auto Attendants into the 2010 environment. I'm at a loss on how to efficiently do this in moving from Ex2010 to Ex2013, though. I've readhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn169226 and it's Step 3 that's got me bewildered. I have 44 Auto Attendants, most of which with up to five custom greetings, numerous key mappings, etc. That Step 3 indicates having to move each custom greeting individually.

I'm just getting into PowerShell and struggling as-is. Compounding that floundering with the lack of clear documentation on moving custom greetings en mass has me frustrated. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How does Exchange 2013 CU3 UM handle Diversion headers?

$

We have an interesting issue going on here..

We have a Cisco 8.6 Call manager with Exchange managing voice mail.

Say User A has a forward to User B.

Call comes in to user A. forwards to B.. B does not answer and they get voice mail for user B when they are expecting voice mail for user A.

In this scenario Exchange will see multiple diversions headers. Is it designed to pick up on the first diversion header or the last?

Dialing from phone extention not asking for PIN to log in

Hi,  We have deployed Exchange 2013 SP1 and  are configuring UM.

Most things are working with the exception of when calling into get voice mail from the office phone it acts like I am calling the number and doesn't prompt  PIN to get to voicemail.  It appears the UM server isn't recognizing that the call is coming from the same extension and just asks to leave a message.

Is this a setting in Exchange, or on the PBX side that needs to be updated?

Also what feature code does the message light use, currently we use *56 to turn on and *57 to turn off.

Thanks.

Callers disconnected from voice mail

We've got an exchange 2010 server (SP1) with one UM server in each city. One city has an issue with some users being disconnected from the voice mail system after starting to listen to their voice mail when dialing in to the VM system with their IP phone. When I checked the call logs on the UM server it shows Outlook Voice Access events at the appropriate times, but a surprising amount are of the duration 2:06. It doesn't always cut the call short at that point (sometimes sooner), but I'm worried that the time is showing 2:06 exactly with alarming regularity on the logs.

I checked the settings on the dial plan and the maximum call duration is 30 mins. Could this be a connection quality issue with the UM server? Anyone know of a way I can test this out or give me some troubleshooting advice on what to check? I'm really rather new to the UM server/exchange dynamic.

Auto Attendant Menus - Operator "0" Enabled and Extensions with "0" in them failing

Hello,

I am working on an internal Lync deployment and I noticed a weird problem.  If we have extensions with zero in them (For Example, 1010, 1018, etc) the following happens:

Operator Dial enabled - True
Speech Enabled - False
Transfer to Extension 1018 - Transfers to "Operator (Lync RGS)"

Operator Dial enabled - True
Speech Enabled - True
Transfer to Extension 1018 - Success

Operator Dial enabled - False
Speech Enabled - False
Transfer to Extension 1018 - Success

Can anyone make any suggestions as to how to allow operator dialing and transferring to extensions with zero without having the menus speech enabled?  I would prefer that the Exchange Lady not interrupt when she picks up background noise when someone hits our IVR, but I also would like Operator dialing enabled on the menus.

Creating a Telephone Extension Dial Plan

I am upgrading from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013. While configuring a new Dial Plan I get the following error:

"The dial plan 'XXXXXDialPlan' can'’t be associated with the Client Access server. Only SIP URI dial plans can be associated with Exchange 2013 Client Access servers."

In our 2010 we are using a Telephone Extension dial plan but I assume this error indicates that I must use a SIP URI type dial plan. I don't believe that will work with our Dialogic Media Gateway. Is there a way to get Exchange 2013 UM to accept Telephone Extension (TeleExtn) URI Type?

I am running a separate CAS and Database server.

Autoattendant Exchange Online Error

Hi, I have Lync on-premise integrated with office 365 (lync online and exchange online). I have deployed and autoattendant and this was working about one year.

Yesterday, the autoattendant began fail, when route the calls or call to the extension number assigned I receive this message "Sorry, a system error ocurred, please try again later" .

I make some tests, reconfigure the autoattendant, create another DialPlan with one new autoattendant and the problem was the same. But I detect the next:

I have my autoattendant configured in Español-MX idiom, but if I change the languaje to English-United Stated the problem dissapear!!, but I can't leave this in English, because some audios are not customizable.

Office 365 support said: whe don´t support Unified Messaging!!!! contact premier support!

Whe don´t have any changes to our on-premise or online configurations.

Any Idea....

TUI support for Inclement Weather Messaging

$

Good afternoon!

I'm deploying a new Exchange 2013 auto-attendant and the one thing I'm having trouble figuring out a way to do is to create an easily manageable message for inclement weather.

In other environments this is often handled by TUI via a message that can be either toggled on and is deleted when toggled off so you don't have to try to record silence over the phone.

As far as I can tell there is nothing like this in Exchange.  There is the informational message, but unless its already set in the AA it can't be turned on via TUI.  And once it has been set up on the AA you can't easily delete this message or just record silence via the TUI.  My question is, is there a way to accomplish this?

We manage several Exchange UM deployments for clients and many times the person responsible for recording messaging on these days is either not technical or not someone we want logging into ECP to try and replace the informational message or both.

In this particular environment their is only a single Exchange Server acting as the voicemail and AA services for a UC540 deployment

Import / Export Dial Plan During Migration to 2013

$

I am not clear on the steps required to use the existing dial plan on a new 2013 server as I have built a new Ex2013 server to migrate my Ex2010 users to.  I understand the steps to be:

- move the appropriate system mailbox to the new server - Done

- Import dial plan and auto attendant custom prompts

If we really just want to use the existing dial plan, do we need to do anything here?  Can we use the existing dial plan?

I assumed that the existing dial plan would work as is for both the 2010 and 2013 server, but when I try to access a mailbox on the new server, I get a busy when trying dial the mailbox directly and if I call the access number I get a message saying, "Sorry you have a mailbox that is not supported by this unified messaging server."

Do I need to convert, export, import, or create a new dial plan for the new 2013 server?  I am planning to move all mailboxes at once, but I would like some confirmation that the new server can receive voicemail before I make the switch.

Hi!

Will Exchange UM work if we only want to use subscriber access and not an auto attendant.

Play on Phone Exchange 2013/CUCM 7.01 fails

$

Play on phone from Outlook 2013 SP1 with Exchange 2013 SP1 & CUCM 7.01 fails with the error "The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service cannot be contacted to play messages on your phone"

The Exchange environment is one Exchange 2013 server with both roles co-located on the same server. And an Exchange 2007 SP3 server also with all roles co-located. Coexistence is enabled. Although each server has its own separate dial plan and SA/AA numbers. The user affected is using an Exchange 2013 dial plan while homed on the Exchange 2013 server. I'm using direct SIP with Exchange.

Play on phone from OWA calls CUCM successfully, although OWA says "The message couldn't be played. Please try again later".

For some odd reason two sip invites are generated when calling CUCM from OWA, when looking at the SIP trace with wireshark.

Despite turning diagnostic logging up the event logs reveal nothing for Outlooks failure to play VM back on the phone. No SIP invite reaches CUCM so the problem is Exchange/Outlook related. Any ideas?

Hi, I've tried to do the following steps
Forward exchange 2003 email to external account such as hotmail, yahoo, gmail
Simple step by step instructions to forward an exchange email to external email:

Step 1. Create new contact with external email address
1. On your exchange server, open active directory users and computers.
2. Right click users OU, point to new and click on contact.
3. Type the fill the user's information (first/last name) and click next.
4. Click modify and choose SMPT address.
4. Type the external email address and click ok and than click finish.

Step 2. Forward the internal email to the external email
Contact you created in step 1 will send the emails to the specify email address. All you need to now is to forward the exchange account emails to the contact. You can forward the emails or forward and leave a copy on the server for the local account.

1. On your exchange server, open active directory users and computers.
2. Select the AD user account, right click and click on properties or double click the account.
3. Click on Exchange General and than click on Delivery options.
4. Check off forward to, and click on Modify.
5. Find and select Contact account created on step 1.
6. Check off "Deliver message to both forwarding address and mailbox".
7. Click OK. Done.

But I've receive this mail while test it

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

Delivery to the following recipients failed.

Final-Recipient:
Action: failed
Status: 5.5.0

Determining which UM Mailbox Policy is associated with users

I need to determine which user(s) are using a specific UM Mailbox Policy. I have had no luck finding EMS cmdlets to accomplish this. Any assistance would be appreciated. I have a dial plan that I want to delete and I cannot remove the UM Mailbox Policy from it "because it is associated with users." Thanks.
