Callers disconnected from voice mail

We've got an exchange 2010 server (SP1) with one UM server in each city. One city has an issue with some users being disconnected from the voice mail system after starting to listen to their voice mail when dialing in to the VM system with their IP phone. When I checked the call logs on the UM server it shows Outlook Voice Access events at the appropriate times, but a surprising amount are of the duration 2:06. It doesn't always cut the call short at that point (sometimes sooner), but I'm worried that the time is showing 2:06 exactly with alarming regularity on the logs.

I checked the settings on the dial plan and the maximum call duration is 30 mins. Could this be a connection quality issue with the UM server? Anyone know of a way I can test this out or give me some troubleshooting advice on what to check? I'm really rather new to the UM server/exchange dynamic.

Can't access VM from Lync client after migrating back to Exchange On-Prem

A few months ago we "tested" Exchange Online and determined it was not suitable for our company's requirements. I only tested with a few accounts - my own one of them. Currently, we're running Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 on-premises without issue except that I, and only I, cannot access my voicemail. I had migrated my mailbox back to on-premises from EO and everything else Exchange-related works for me. Icanaccess my VM via the subscriber access line but if I try to "Call Voice Mail" from either my Lync LPE (Polycom CX600) or client, it says I'm "unavailable or may be offline" on the client or "Call unsuccessful. Voice Mail is unavailable right now. Please try later." on the LPE. When I look at the Lync server logs, it's indicating the following:

Attempts to route to servers in an Exchange UM Dialplan failed

No server in the dialplan [Hosted__exap.um.outlook.com__company.onmicrosoft.com] accepted the call with id [ee002254d9ab4a99c752d940a77be205].

Cause: Dialplan is not configured properly.

Resolution:

Check the configuration of the dialplan on Exchange UM Servers.

Which is telling us it's trying to call out to EO for my UM. But I migrated my mailbox to on-premises? If I look at my account in Exchange, it shows my mailbox on-prem and UM enabled with our on-prem UM mailbox policy and dial plan. I've tried disabling UM and re-enabling but it doesn't change anything. My EUM address is correct. I looked at my AD attributes and found nothing out of the ordinary. Reviewing the Lync client logs after attempting a call to UM results in an error like below:

<reportError xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/2006/09/sip/error-reporting"><error toUri="sip:j.doe@company.com;opaque=app:voicemail" callId="93a481bc5b7c45868057fad842297441" fromTag="5dbd6e36cd" toTag="5C3A9BA30F5AC52DAE32D0D0A2674C15" contentType="multipart/alternative;boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0035_01CF2726.7DF989E0";call-type=audiovideo" responseCode="480" requestType="INVITE"><diagHeader>52086;reason="The conversation could not be established as the remote party is not available";OriginalPresenceState="0";CurrentPresenceState="0";MeInsideUser="Yes";ConversationInitiatedBy="0";SourceNetwork="0";RemotePartyCanDoIM="No"</diagHeader><progressReports><progressReport><diagHeader>13007;reason="Request was proxied to an application.";source="lyncpoolfqdn.company.COM";targetApp="voicemail";appName="InboundRouting"</diagHeader></progressReport><progressReport><diagHeader>15008;reason="Routing to UM for Subscriber Access";source="lyncpoolfqdn.company.COM";dialplan="Hosted__exap.um.outlook.com__company.onmicrosoft.com";umserver="exap.um.outlook.com";appName="ExumRouting"</diagHeader></progressReport><progressReport><diagHeader>15023;reason="Re-directing request to the destination in 303";source="BL20C00EDG02.LYNC0C001.LOCAL";Destination="sip:j.doe@uminternal.um.prod.outlook.com:5061;ms-organization=company.onmicrosoft.com;transport=Tls;ms-fe=pod51034.um.prod.outlook.com";appName="ExumRouting"</diagHeader></progressReport><progressReport><diagHeader>15621;reason="The specified mailbox is not enabled for Unified Messaging. What am I missing? Lync 2013-Excange 2013 UM

I am doing some POC testing in our Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 systems. I am not connecting this to our external SIP trunk or PBX at this time. I was able to configure Enterprise Voice and was able to make a call to another Lync User. We are using a did pattern with the last 4 digits being the users extension. I tried to turn on the Conferencing but that that will not pick up. I only get a fast busy when I dial. I setup the UM dial plan and setup AA and OVA. I ran the script on exchange to publish the IP gateway as well as the utility on Lync to create the SA and AA numbers. I tried to dial the OVA number, AA and SA and all I get is a fast busy. I have configured those numbers just like I did for the users. +12315552000 for the AA, +12315552001 for SA and +12315552002 for OVA. I have enabled the UM feature for the user but I cannot dial into the VM or any of the other numbers. I must be missing something but I cannot figure it out.

Any suggestions?

How to right configure Outlook Voice Access

$

Hello,

i need to change the Greetings for my Voicebox. When i call my number i always get "Please leave a message for..." and have no chance to configure my settings.

I have tried to configure the Outlook Voice Access number for the dialplan, but i have not just yet found out the right settings to come in to my Voicebox.

My Phone nummer is 0781/326 90 16 and my Voicebox number is 0781/326 90 4416 where 4416 is the extension. I've tried 0781/326 90 4499 and i get the message "Sorry, but the person you try to call has not a valid voicebox..". That's the message i get for all the numbers that are not assign in my dialplan.

What number do i have to use? What else do i have to do?

Thanks,

Guido

IVR Sensitivity

$

I'm using Exchange 2013 with Lync 2013. I've been getting reports that the IVR system on the auto-attendants is overly sensitive, to the point of not being useful. Basically any background noise trips the IVR, eventually directing the call to the receptionist. As this kind of defeats the purpose of having an auto attendant, I was wondering if there was anything that I should check to try and alleviate the issue.

Outlook Voice Access number

Hey guys,

I'm trying to integrate Lync 2013 with Exchange 2013 and i have a coupe of questions:

1. Can i use extensions for my Outlook Voice Access/Auto Attendant numbers? for example: +40756191140;ext=100 and +40756191140;ext=101 . All the users have non-DID numbers and they can contact each other internally with a 3 digit extension. I want to set up the Outlook Voice Access/Auto Attendant numbers in the same way. Is it possible to enter these numbers like in the example?

2. What is the "E.164 routing numbers for your SIP server" above the Outlook Voice Access numbers? Do i need to enter an extension for this too? Can it be the same as the Outlook Voice Access number?

I would really appreciate some help regarding these 2 questions.

Thanks

Unified Messaging DR - Auto-Attendent Greetings

$

Recently implemented Exchange UM and getting ready to do our first DR since that implementation. We use quite a few auto-attendent greetings and wonder the process for ensuring they are recovered (i.e.; where the files are "stored" once they are put into UM or do they stay where they are originally stored on the server?

Co-existence with 2007 UM

Hi there - Currently we run a pure 2007 Exchange environment (with UM) and want to upgrade the email side of things to 2013. There is a separate project for upgrading UM. We have one CAS/HT, one MBX and one UM server. UM is integrated with the Office’s VOIP system based on Microsoft’s Office Communicator System 2007 R2. I would like to install Exchange 2013 and migrate CAS/HT services and the users over to the 2013 MBX server. How does this affect the UM that's installed? The goal with UM is to upgrade it to Lync 2013 but at a later date. Will UM just keep on running when we begin to migrate users over to the 2013 mailbox server?

Many thanks,

Tony

dialing rules not normalizing - can't transfer via auto attendant menu

$

Under Exchange 2010 we were never able to get 4 digit extensions in auto attendant menus to transfer - we would get the "the call could not be transferred - returning to main menu" message. We specified the whole 11 digit DID instead and transfers worked, so we stuck with that for the last couple of years. I now realize the latter worked because our Global Dial Plan in Lync had a normalization rule for 11 digits (but not for 4). It never occurred to me before because we only use User Dial Plans and the fact that Exchange normalizes via the Global Dial Plan in Lync doesn't appear to be well documented.

Fast forward to our Exchange 2013 migration, which is now complete, and all the AA settings came over as they were before and still work. BUT we have our first changes to be made now that the holidays are approaching, and we've discovered that in 2013 the gui forces you to use the number of digits your dial plan extensions are set for (in our case 4) - it won't accept the 11 digit workaround any more (existing 11 digit values continue to transfer properly).

The problem with using the Global Dial Plan in Lync to normalize is that we have 3 different user dial plans, and there are some overlapping extensions between them - so the global dial plan won't work for us.

My understanding is that Exchange dialing rules should be used to normalize the numbers before they get passed to Lync - but it doesn't seem to work. I created a dialing rulefor number pattern xxxx with +1619683xxxx as the
dialed number, but it doesn't work. Snooper shows that the plain 4 digits are still getting passed directly to Lync with no normalization, and fail.

Anyone know how to get the dialing rules to normalize properly?

Thank you!

When AA transfers the call to the Lync client and client is set to call forward it does not use the Line URI of the Lync server it uses the call forwarding number assigned it lync. We authenticate on the Line URI of Lynce for example 18175551212;ext1007 so when call forwarding shows the forwarding number such as 123456789;phone-context=enterprise. we want to always show the 18175551212;ext1007

MSExchange Unified Messaging Warning 1400

Hey, everyone!

I'm looking for help with the Warning ID listed in the subject. I think I know what is wrong: the FQDN in the UM IP Gateway points to the Lync server, not the Gateway.

Is it as simple as updating the UM IP Gateway settings or is there more to it? I ask because the UM IP Gateway was automatically created by the UM Script.

Thanks!

Exchange 2013 CU1 UM and Avaya SM R6

Hello! I have a problem integrating Avaya and Exchange 2013 CU1 UM.

In 2010 environment it works perfectly fine, however with Exchange 2013 I was unable to make it work.

I was looking into the packets sent by 2010 and 2013, the only difference is in 302 reply. Exchange 2010 sendsextension@ip:port as the Contact URI while Exchange 2013 sendsextension@fqdn:port

Avaya doesn't seem to recognize the format and instead of connecting to the specified within the contact field service just keeps querying TCP 5060 (Call Router Service).

Is there any way to force Exchange to use IP within the contact field instead of FQDN?

Pointing SIP Entity to 5065/5067 directly is not an option for obvious reasons well covered here on the forums.

The trouble with MS Exchange 2013 ASR

Hello guys!

I have a trouble with Exchange Auto Attendant with ASR (Automatic Speech Recognition). If I disable ASR then DTMF dialing to internal numbers disabled too (only dial to "1", "2"... stayed, not dialing to "801", "256"...). How to get around this bottlenecking?

Intermittent busy signal on voice mail

$

I have a strange issue I have been trying to fix for a couple of weeks now. I am running Lync 2010 and Exchange 2010. When a call comes in the Lync client rings but when Lync tries to hand off the call to Exchange UM for voicemail the end user receives a busy signal. The weird part is if the person calls back it will ring the Lync client and then the voicemail transfer is successful. This is also the case with the auto attendant. I have also discovered that after the first successful VM interaction they are all successful until a period of around 10 minutes of inactivity occurs then it is back to square one. Busy signal, next call works and all subsequent calls work until another period of inactivity.

I am hoping the amazing minds on this forum can shed some light because I have exhausted all other resources.

Thanks in advance.
