Exchange 2013 SIP URI Dial Plan Auto Attendants

$

Have created a SIP URI dial plan so it can be associated with 2013 CAS and MBX servers since telephone extension plans cannot. When creating an AA it must use E.164 format so I assigned it +12222225963. Then used digit modification and properly configured SIP Peer Profile in a Mitel 3300 call route to send the appropriate digits. Wireshark capture shows the call being made to sip:+12222225963@IPofCAS coming inbound.

Also created hunt group using:

new-umhuntgroup -name HuntGroup -pilotidentifier +12222225963 -UMIPGateway Mitel -UMDialPlan 2013DialPlan

What ultimately happens is Exchange 2013 responding with "302 Temporarily Moved"

Can someone tell me if I am doing this right or am missing something in the config?

Exchange 2010 SP3 UM languages

Hi all,

I'm having an issue with Exchange 2010 SP3 and Lync 2013...

Setup: Exchange 2010 SP3 and Lync 2013 Environment, Exchange UM Servers have the German Language packs installed, in addition to the default EN-US.

User A: Mailbox on 2010, UM Enabled, User Regional Settings: Germany
User B: Mailbox on 2010, UM Enabled, User Regional Settings: Germany

If User A calls User B and is forwarded to Voicemail, all the prompts are played in English... If User A or User B access their voicemail, OVA prompts are in German...

If an unknown User calls User A (or B) and is forwarded to voicemail, the prompts are played in English again.

English is the default language for the UM Dial Plan, but as far as I know, the UM prompts like "Please leave a message for User A" are supposed to be played in the target mailboxes language for unknown callers, am I wrong?

For "known" callers, users with mailboxes in the same Exchange Org as the target mailbox, prompts are supposed to be played in the callers language, right? That's not working either. So regardless who initiates the call, prompts are always played in the dial plans default language....

thanks for any hints or ideas!

We have Unified messgaing 2010 installed.  We are having an issue with a user mailbox where every time they try an access voicemail through the phone they obtain the message "This is not the correct extension for the mailbox"  Now i checked the extension number and it is correct.  I have disabled and reenabled and still obtain this message. Has anyone else experienced this?  All other UM enabled accounts work.

Exchange 2013 UM Problem Calling Outlook Voice Access Number From Outside

$

Here is the scenario:

2 Exchange 2013 servers both with CAS and MBX roles

IP PBX (UM IP Gateway) = Mitel 3300 ICP

One Exchange CAS configured on Mitel as SIP Peer

Reroute on Mitel configured when not answered or busy

Dial Plan = Telephone Extension (obviously not associated with either Exchange servers since only SIP URI can be associated with an Exchange 2013 UM)

When calling a busy or non answered extension UM answers properly and focuses on the appropriate mailbox regardless of which server is hosting the users home db. When dialing the Outlook Voice Access number from any extension configured as a UM extension on a mailbox UM properly focuses on the appropriate mailbox and asks for PIN.

PROBLEM - When calling the Outlook Voice Access number from any phone extension or outside line that is not associated with a specific mailbox, the system prompts for the extension of the mailbox you want to access. If the mailbox is in a db being hosted by the answering CAS role call router it finds the mailbox and prompts for PIN. If the mailbox is actively hosted on a db running on the other MBX server from the answering CAS router, after entering the extension for the mailbox you want to logon to, the call seems to get automatically placed on hold (perhaps even routed back to Mitel) the Outlook voice Access number called again, UM answers and prompts again. Basically the call ends up in a loop.

I tested this by moving the mounted copy of the database the user mailbox is in back to the CAS role server to which the Mitel  system is configured to route calls to and all works as it should. It is only when the mailbox is on a db mounted on the other server that the calls go into a loop.

Exchange 2013 Unified Messaging Transition from Exchange 2010 with Lync 2013 not working

Dear Team,

I'm in middle of transitioning from Exchange 2010 to 2013. Currently we have the following setup:

2x Exchange 2010 SP3 HUB/CAS (WNLB, CAS array)
3x Exchange 2010 SP3 Mailbox DAG with (2 in Primary and 1 in DR site)
1x Exchange 2010 SP3 UM
Lync Server 2013

2x Exchange 2013 CU2 Client Access (WNLB) Ex2013CAS01 and Ex2013CAS02
3x Exchange 2013 CU2 Mailbox DAG Ex2013MB01, Ex2013MB02 and Ex2013MB03-DR (2 in Primary and 1 in DR site)

  • I have added Existing DialPlan to all the Exchange 2013 servers and Set the startup mode to TLS. Assigned internal CA certificate and enabled UM service in Exchange 2013 CAS and Mailbox servers.
  • Added the same certificate to the Lync 2013 server.
  • Moved the Exchange 2010 system mailbox
  • Disabled the 2010 Unified Messaging Server via Exchange 2010 EMC

After restarting the Lync 2013 FE server, it gives errors saying unable to find UM Server, Cannot connect to server Ex2013MB01 and Ex2013MB02 with port 5061. Lync Missed call notification email not working.

But when I check the Ex2013 Mailbox servers UM properties, it configured only to listen on port 5063. Port 5061 configured on CAS servers only.

When I get the details of get-UMDialplan it shows only the Mailbox servers under UMServers.

Did I miss any configuration? Is there are any proper documentation/guide when transitioning the UM services with Lync 2013?

Below are the actual error in Lync 2013 FE logs:

Missing unified messaging selection.

Hello,

I've installed Exchange 2013 and now I'm trying to follow the steps to integrate with Lync 2013. I'm stuck at the exchange checkpoint to configure Unified Messaging by selecting Servers > unified messaging. The Unified Messaging selection is not available to me. I believe I've set permissions correctly. One other note is my installation is in evaluation mode would this keep me from seeing this option?

I was looking at http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee364753.aspx under "Supported IP PBXs" section, and it says:

IP PBXs are also supported by Unified Messaging. The following table shows the IP PBXs that are supported using a direct SIP connection toExchange 2010 Unified Messaging.

This is on a page for Exchange 2013, and I was confused. Could anyone verify that the above table for supported IP PBX's refelect Exchange 2013, not 2010?

Is there way to enable 50 users on mass for Exchange UM without having to individually select enable unified messaging on each user?  Is there a script i can use to incorporate mailbox policy and automaticallly generate a PIN.

First call to Exchange 2013 ring busy, but subsequent calls go through fine.

After we upgraded from Exchange 2010 to 2013 we are having an issue where the first call to Exchange rings busy.  If you call it again the subsequent calls go through just fine.  Then after maybe 20-30 minutes of inactivity the first call will ring busy again and all subsequent calls will work.  Any idea why this might be happening and where I should start my troubleshooting?  It's almost like some sort of keep-alive is needed to keep the trunk awake!

dub Site  = 2 x collocated 2013
lon Site =  2 x collocated 2013
2 x DAGS

dub Users will have DAG1 with their active mailbox in dub and passive in lon
lon Users will have DAG2 with their active mailbox in lon and passive in dub

No matter what I do on spreadsheet I only ever see one DAG. Also I never seem to get the correct distribution diagram when I select

Calls to Attendant fail and Hunt Group missing

$

I have 2 Exchange 2013 servers with mailbox roles and with 2 CAS roles.  I have one Lync 2013 Enterprise deployment and UM is configured for Enterprise voice.  I am able to make and receive calls using the provided SIP trunk.  Calls to the Exchange Auto Attendant Fail and the following eventlog is recorded:

The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging Call Router service rejected the call for the following reason: 15601;source="xxxx.xxxx.com";reason="The Unified Messaging server cannot find a valid UM hunt group associated with the UM IP gateway. Pilot number: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. UMIPGateway: xxxx.xxxx.com." Microsoft.Exchange.UM.UMCore.CallRejectedException: The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service on the Mailbox server can't find a valid UM hunt group for "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx" associated with UM IP gateway "xxxx.xxxx.com".

At first I thought it was related to spaces in the name as the following URL looked promising but after research I found that not to be the case.
http://blog.schertz.name/2010/11/lync-calls-to-exchange-auto-attendant-fail/

The strange part is the Hunt Group does not appear in the EAC.  The following URL provides instructions for adding a hunt group but I am unable to complete it through the EAC.  I ran get-umhuntgroup and was able to see an existing hunt group that was automatically created during the configuration of the Dial Plan.  I removed the hunt group and re-added it and it still does not appear in the EAC and the calls to the attendant still fail.  Any ideas?

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997679(v=exchg.150).aspx

1. In the EAC, navigate to Unified Messaging > UM dial plans. In the list view, select the UM dial plan you want to modify, and then click Edit.

2. On the UM Dial Plan page, under UM Hunt Groups, click New Add Icon.

Exchange Unified Messaging block or change CallerID resolution

Is it possible to block or change the CallerID on an individual UMMailbox?

Scenario: Exchange user name "Manager" calls to leave a voice mail for me (also on Exchange), in the email notification I receive it will say“Manager -1234”.

Is it possible to have the Display name show up as "Manager" (no local) only, or to show as "unknown" without changing the Global Address list entry?

Exchange 2013 unified messaging tab not available

Hi When in the exchange EAC using exchange 2013 I want to enable TLS startup mode however this tab is not available under servers-servers-choose (mailbox, CAS) exchange server and then edit.  There is no unified messaging option here.  I have organisational permission, web browser is supported?  Tried from the shell and gives me the same errors re changing TLS.

Infact when I clieck on servers-servers-select server then edit I see the unified messaging option for a split second then it disappears...

This is where I am talking about....Step 3 UM is not an option shown...

  1. In the EAC, navigate to Servers> Servers.
  2. In the list view, select the Exchange server you want to modify, and then clickEdit Edit Icon.
  3. On the Exchange Server page, click Unified Messaging.
  4. Under UM Service settings> UM startup mode, select one of the following from the drop-down list:
    • TCP   Use this option if you aren’t using mTLS and are using only Unsecured dial plans.
    • TLS   Use this option if you are using mTLS and using only SIP Secured or Secured dial plans.
    • DUAL   Use this option if you are using mTLS and using Unsecured, SIP Secured, and Secured dial plans.
  5. After you select the UM startup mode, click Save.

Please help  !!!

Cheers

Using pre-recorded voicemail greetings for 2010/2013 mailboxes?

$

One of our clients has gotten some professionally-recorded audio they'd like to use in lieu of self-recorded voicemail greetings.  We're running Lync 2013 and Exchange 2010.  I can't believe there's no way to import a .wav or .wma directly, like one does with an Auto Attendant but for an individual user, but all the posts I see on this topic involve using workarounds to essentially play back the pre-recorded audio to the line-in of Lync's voicemail recording.

Is there no way to manually upload / overwrite an individual account's voicemail greeting with a recorded file?

Thanks for the info,

'Hold for an Operator'

$

0

Good morning,

I currentely have a Lync installation that leverages Exchange UM services for inbound calls. At this time, there is a fairly basic UM configuration in place; calls come in on the main number and the caller is present with what would be considered fairly standard options;

1.) If you known the extension number please press 1

2.) Otherwise please press 2 for an operator

It has since been highlisghted that people calling from satelite phones, or driving with a hands-free devices may not always have a dial pad easily accessible to them. As such it has been suggested that the second option for being passed to an operator should be changed to "Otherwise please hold for an operator".

I am currently unable to identify an obvious way to achieve this given my limited Exchange knowledge from within the standard UM options, I see no obvious related post in the forums, and have not come across anything via search engines.

If someone would be able to advise on how I can route a call to the operator extension after a pre-determined amount of time or absence of a selection it would be much appreciated!

Kind regards

Ben

Migrating from UM 2010 to UM 2013 - Question about coexistence..

$

Hello,

I am at a customer right now, where we are going to migrate from UM 2010 to UM 2013(Full Exchange migration), while doing a Lync migration as well. My question is simply, is there any way to coexist the two UM environments so that an individual user migration can be done?

Scenario;

UM 2010 and Lync 2010 user gets migrated to Exchange 2013 with his UM as well. This user would be a Exchange UM 2013 user, on a Lync 2010 pool. All my UM dialplans are made pointing to the old pool, which would give routing issues as I see it.

Is there a way to automate Things, so when this user is moved to the new Exchange server, then he will still Work on Lync 2010?

Thank you for helping out :-)

Kind regards, Thomas Laursen
