Exchange 2013 Auto Attendant Grammar Generation

$

In Exchange 2010 we had GalGrammarGenerator.exe which could be used to force creation of grammar files for such things as speech-enabled auto attendants. Now, when creating a speech-enabled auto attendant there seems to be no way to generate the files and get them up and working without waiting for the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistants service to do it and you might have to wait up to 24 hours.

I created an auto attendant and need to get it going ASAP. However, all you get when it runs is "Please call back later" and restarting the Microsoft Exchange Mailbox Assistants service doesn't seem to trigger generation.

Anyone know how to force this so auto attendants created in Exchange 2013 can be put into service nearly immediately?

Powershell - Holiday Schedule Issue

I am trying to use powershell to set a holiday schedule for multiple auto attendants but am testing on just one. It looks like it applies ok but does not work. When it should be active I get a "user does not have a valid mailbox on the system ... goodbye"

I have verified the format of the audio file. If I create the holiday manually and browse to the same file it works fine.

Not getting why adding it with powershell makes it fail to work. I set the date for today to test.

script

-----

Set-UMAutoAttendant -Identity Depere -HolidaySchedule "Christmas,D:\Holidays\gschtest.wav,10/22/2013", "Christmas Eve,D:\Holidays\gschtest.wav,10/23/2013"

Any help would be appreciated as I would rather automate the process for upcoming holidays.

Thanks

UM fails when trying to transfer calls between mailbox servers.

We are migrating to Exchange 2013 from 2007.

We have 6 2013 mailbox servers ina  DAG and 4 cas.

So far we have UM mostly working with the Cisco 9.1 call manager.

They connect to Cisco with a Telephone extension dial plan.. No encryption.

If you call the Subscriber Access  number from you inside line (IE there is a EUM in Exchange for that number) you get routed to your UM mailbox and prompted for a pin. Everything works as expected. CAS transfers the call the the correct Mailbox server and you get your voicemail.

If you call the SA number from an outside line where there is no matching EUM it prompts you for an extension.

After you enter the extension it prompts "you have a mailbox that is not supported by this unified messaging server" and drops the call.

Tracing the traffic I see the call goes comes in from Cisco to one of the CAS servers, CAS redirects to Mailbox server 2.

Mailbox server 2 tries to transfer the call to Mailbox 4 where the account mailbox is but the transfer fails.

Looking on the mailbox server 2 logs I found MsExchange Unified Messaging Events

1079 "Microsoft.Rtc.Signaling.FailureRequestException:The transfer operation failed. For more information, refer to the message data in the exception.

and

1136 "An error occurred while transferring a call "

Exchange 2010 Unified Messaging change Dial Plan

I would like to modify an existing dial plan from 4 digits extension to 5 digit extension. Is there a power shell cmd or GUI  that I can use to modify the dial plan? I would like to keep the exiting plan that users are using vs create a new plan and moving those users over.

Exchange 2013 UM Problem Calling Outlook Voice Access Number From Outside

$

Here is the scenario:

2 Exchange 2013 servers both with CAS and MBX roles

IP PBX (UM IP Gateway) = Mitel 3300 ICP

One Exchange CAS configured on Mitel as SIP Peer

Reroute on Mitel configured when not answered or busy

Dial Plan = Telephone Extension (obviously not associated with either Exchange servers since only SIP URI can be associated with an Exchange 2013 UM)

When calling a busy or non answered extension UM answers properly and focuses on the appropriate mailbox regardless of which server is hosting the users home db. When dialing the Outlook Voice Access number from any extension configured as a UM extension on a mailbox UM properly focuses on the appropriate mailbox and asks for PIN.

PROBLEM - When calling the Outlook Voice Access number from any phone extension or outside line that is not associated with a specific mailbox, the system prompts for the extension of the mailbox you want to access. If the mailbox is in a db being hosted by the answering CAS role call router it finds the mailbox and prompts for PIN. If the mailbox is actively hosted on a db running on the other MBX server from the answering CAS router, after entering the extension for the mailbox you want to logon to, the call seems to get automatically placed on hold (perhaps even routed back to Mitel) the Outlook voice Access number called again, UM answers and prompts again. Basically the call ends up in a loop.

I tested this by moving the mounted copy of the database the user mailbox is in back to the CAS role server to which the Mitel  system is configured to route calls to and all works as it should. It is only when the mailbox is on a db mounted on the other server that the calls go into a loop.

Hi

We need to be able to receive fax messages on one single um-enabled Mailbox.
Is there a way to configure that without having a fax server solution?

I tried to set "AllowFax:$True" on the ummailboxpolicy, but it asks me to set the fax server URI.

Dial Plan UM IP Gateways

Are you able to have separate dial plans with the same UM IP gateway associated? We are moving users to a 5 digit extension and need to create a new dial plan. I would like to have both dial plans use the same UM IP gate way while were moving the users. Also, what is the power shell cmd to change a existing dial plan to 5 digit extension? I attempted using the 2 cmds below which did not work.

Set-UMDialplan -Identity Ohio - NumberOfDigitsInExtension '5'

Set-UMDialplan -name Ohio - NumberOfDigitsInExtension '5'

unable to leave voice mail for users

$

Hello,

I am unable to leave voice mail for users. When I call a voice box I always get the message that I have to give the
number of the voice box first.

My scenario looks like this:

I have a Alcatel 4400 telephone System with four ISDN ports where a Ferrari OfficeMaster Gateway is connected.

The "protocol" at the ISDN Ports are "ISDN alle Länder". There is no QSIG defined. There is a four digits range defined for the UM functions.

At the Gateway there are inbound Rules defined with the Exchange System as the SIP-target.

At the Exchange Server "UM Dial Plan"  there is "telephone Extension" as URI type defined.

When I call from external I see the external Number and the target Number like "6814", which is the Voice Extension for my mailbox, at the Gateway Monitor. I get routet to the Exchange Server and then i get asked for the number to call.

When I test the UM funtionality with the following command:  "Test-ExchangeUMCallFlow -Mode Gateway -VoIPSecurity Unsecured -NextHop exch001 -Diversion 6814"

I get the message that the diagnostic test completed successfully and the note "If callers are unable to leave voice mail for the user, the issue may lie in the components (such as PBX/IP-PBX/SIP-PSTN gateways) and path preceeding the NextHop."

Where is the fault? Do i have to configure QSIG?

Guido

Move UM Mailbox and Reset to Defaults

We have some users that left the company and we need to re-use the extensions. When I "Disable Unified Messaging" from the existing user and "Enable Unified Messaging" for the new user it does not give the new user the New Mailbox Setup greeting.

Is there a way to reset the voicemail as if it was never used before?

Auto-Attendant: "Sorry, I couldn't transfer you to the extension"

Hi, everyone!

We're on Exchange 2010 and Lync 2013 Enterprise. All of the sudden after someone enters an extension or says a name, AA sits there silently for a moment and then eventually says "Sorry, I couldn't transfer you to the extension."

I can't find anything in the logs on the Exchange server.

It was working, but now it's not.

I've seen multiple articles, but most don't seem to be the same problem. I did try adding a catch all Dial Policy as suggested here (http://blog.ucmadeeasy.com/2010/08/29/exchange-um-auto-attendant-key-mappings-not-transferring-calls-after-sp1/) to the Dial Plan and AA, but still no luck.

Can someone please help?

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I am busy setting up Exchange UM on our Exchange 2013 servers for Lync 2013 integration.

I am trying to run the set-IMCallRouterSettings command but keep getting this error:

[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Set-UMCallRouterSettings -DialPlans "Triple4 Cloud" -UMStartupMode TLS
Couldn't perform the operation because objects of type

It seems that the object does not exist in AD.

Wonder if anyone can help?

Import / Export Dial Plan During Migration to 2013

$

I am not clear on the steps required to use the existing dial plan on a new 2013 server as I have built a new Ex2013 server to migrate my Ex2010 users to.  I understand the steps to be:

- move the appropriate system mailbox to the new server - Done

- Import dial plan and auto attendant custom prompts

If we really just want to use the existing dial plan, do we need to do anything here?  Can we use the existing dial plan?

I assumed that the existing dial plan would work as is for both the 2010 and 2013 server, but when I try to access a mailbox on the new server, I get a busy when trying dial the mailbox directly and if I call the access number I get a message saying, "Sorry you have a mailbox that is not supported by this unified messaging server."

Do I need to convert, export, import, or create a new dial plan for the new 2013 server?  I am planning to move all mailboxes at once, but I would like some confirmation that the new server can receive voicemail before I make the switch.

MSExchange Unified Messaging Warning 1400

Hey, everyone!

I'm looking for help with the Warning ID listed in the subject. I think I know what is wrong: the FQDN in the UM IP Gateway points to the Lync server, not the Gateway.

Is it as simple as updating the UM IP Gateway settings or is there more to it? I ask because the UM IP Gateway was automatically created by the UM Script.

Thanks!

I have Exchange UM setup with CUCM 7.x - things are working great, except I need to have callers go directly to voice mail, no prompts. The closes i can get to this is by setting up AA and select Timeout in the drop down menu, this is fine except i need to change the default wait time - it is set to 5sec and i need to set it to 2sec, if this can be done per users would be great or if there is some other trick i don't know about please let me know.

Thank you,

2010 vs 2013 Virtualized Unified Messaging System Requirements?

$
0
0

On Exchange 2010 virtualized UM has some pretty heavy system requirements.

Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 SP1 supports virtualization of the Unified Messaging role when it is installed on the 64-bit edition of Windows Server 2008 R2.

Unified Messaging must be the only Exchange role in the virtual machine. Other Exchange roles (Client Access, Edge Transport, Hub Transport, Mailbox) are not supported on the same virtual machine as Unified Messaging.

The virtualized machine configuration running Unified Messaging must have at least 4 CPU cores, and at least 16 GB of memory.

We currently do not have UM, but we have 1 single CAS and 1 MB/HT server for about 300 active users.

If we were to add UM on Exchange Server 2010, we would have to add a 3rd VM to dedicate to the single task of running Unified Messaging requiring a new Windows Server License and a new Exchange Server licence plus a big Hyper-V host upgrade to be able to afford to dedicate 16GB RAM and 4 cores to this one VM.

I understand that on Exchange Server 2013 UM is integrated into the mailbox server role.  So, this sounds like if we were to upgrade from 2010 to 2013 we would be able to have one less server to purchase and manage.

What are the system requirements for Exchange 2013 running UM in relation to 2010?
